Jerry Kilgo

Jerry Kilgo brings a unique and compassionate perspective to the practice of family law. In addition to being an attorney, Jerry is also a licensed clinical social worker, allowing him to approach legal matters with a deeper understanding of the emotional and personal challenges families face during difficult times.

Education and Early Career

Before entering the legal profession, Jerry worked as a family therapist and social worker with DHR. Through that experience, he developed the knowledge and insight needed to assist clients involved with “the system.” Jerry understands that many clients do not fully know their rights when DHR is involved, and he is committed to helping them navigate those situations with clarity, dignity, and compassion. He believes that people are more than their biggest mistakes and works diligently to help families overcome the issues that brought DHR into their homes.

Professional Approach

Jerry takes a thoughtful and client-centered approach to family law. He helps clients focus on the bigger picture during moments of crisis and takes the time to understand what matters most to them. Recognizing that divorce and custody cases can often become highly adversarial, Jerry works to protect not only his clients’ interests but also the well-being of their children and families. His combined legal and clinical background allows him to offer guidance that is both practical and deeply empathetic.

Community Connection

A lifelong resident of Cullman and a graduate of Hanceville High School, Jerry takes great pride in serving families in his community and nearby areas. His strong local roots and dedication to helping others reflect his ongoing commitment to the people and families of North Alabama.

Jerry continues to serve clients with compassion, insight, and dedication. His rare combination of legal experience and clinical social work background positions him as a trusted advocate for families navigating some of life’s most difficult transitions.
