Dean Smith, Esq., has a rich and diverse background, rooted in his upbringing on a working dairy and beef farm in Holly Pond, Alabama.

Education and Early Career

A proud graduate of Saint Bernard Preparatory School in Cullman, AL, Dean furthered his academic pursuits by obtaining a Finance degree from Auburn University. His passion for the law led him to pursue a Juris Doctor from Belmont University College of Law in Nashville, Tennessee. Before co-founding Smith & Kilgo Law, LLC, Dean gained valuable experience as a legal intern for NFP Team Scotti in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this role, he contributed to brokering high-limit disability insurance for Major League Baseball player contracts and played a pivotal role in addressing complex legal issues faced by the MLB.



Professional Journey

In December of 2022, Dean joined Fuller, Willingham & Carter, LLC, marking a significant milestone in his legal career. His diverse experiences and comprehensive legal acumen quickly established him as a valuable asset to the firm. In 2026, Dean partnered with Jerry Kilgo to found Smith & Kilgo Law, LLC, further reflecting his leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to serving clients throughout North Alabama.

Community Engagement

Dean and his wife, Kacie, are active members of Cullman First Baptist Church, demonstrating their strong ties to the local community. Dean takes great pride in representing the exceptional people of Cullman County and North Alabama, showcasing his unwavering commitment to serving the legal needs of the region.
